Our Brief

We were appointed directly by Hilton to deliver the interior design for Hilton Northampton, a 144-key hotel, as part of a fast-track roll-out refurbishment programme.

Our scope of works included the design of the guestrooms, corridors and ensuites, with a focus on implementing Hilton’s ‘One Room’ design scheme across multiple room types. In addition to the design delivery, we were responsible for leading the FF&E procurement, ensuring a cohesive and efficient process from concept through to completion.

The project required close coordination with the wider delivery team to achieve a high-quality result within a 9-month timeframe, while ensuring the design remained in keeping with Hilton’s brand standards and approval processes.

Our Approach

With a compressed programme and multiple room types to coordinate, our approach focused on precision, efficiency and clear communication. The scheme was carefully implemented across a variety of guestroom layouts, including twin, king and double double rooms, maintaining a consistent identity while responding to each configuration.

Warm timber casegoods are paired with fresh, clean wall finishes to create a calm and inviting base, paired with a contemporary carpet in cool grey and blue hues to anchor the design. Patterned, textural curtain and cushion fabrics add depth and interest against accents of tan leather and a blue upholstered chair. The finishes are complemented by white metal light fittings and marble-effect stone surfaces for a refined, modern finish. The bespoke abstract artwork ties the palette together, while the design language continues into the guestroom corridors for a seamless transition.

The ensuites received a fresh new look, with a full refurbishment featuring a blend of timber-effect and crisp light tiles, alongside new floor finishes, fixtures and fittings. A large black metal-framed mirror with integrated LED lighting completes the look.

Our FF&E procurement was delivered in multiple, carefully coordinated phases, working closely with the contractor and casegoodsmanufacturer to meet programme requirements. Ongoing collaboration with the project manager and cost consultant ensured the project remained on budget without compromising on quality.

The Results

Hilton Northampton has been successfully repositioned as a fresh, contemporary offering within the Hilton portfolio, delivering an improved guest experience and a consistent brand expression throughout the hotel.

The success of the project has led to Bell&Swift being appointed to deliver a similar refurbishment at Hilton Watford, spanning over 200 guestrooms alongside a number of public areas, reinforcing the value of the approach and the strength of the client relationship.
